  • Go-to for email

    April 06, 2014 13:22

This is by far the best way to send emails. I learned the API in under 15 minutes and started sending email right then. And best of all, it's completely free to use them for me! They give you 12,000 emails/month for free. I don't have to send much email, so I've never paid a cent. I highly recommend them.

  • Great service

I love GitHub! They provide a completely free service for hosting, storing, and collaborating on code. Seriously, if you aren't using them, go sign up now.

  • Pretty crappy

I've tried to use Cloud9, but I really don't like it. They say it has real-time collaboration, and it does — but only for 2 people, because the backend shuts everything down and lets nobody access anything if more than 2 people want to use it. The UI looks pretty bad, Cloud9 is completely inaccessible from mobile devices, and it freezes my computer because it uses so much memory. It's free and they will host your files for free, but I much prefer GitHub.

  • Great!

Insanely low prices, quite easy to use, and they're fast. Plus they provide great support. And they're integrated with other AWS services, like CloudFront.

Seriously, this is the best service of it's kind out there.

  • Awesome!

I love Stripe. They were super, super easy to set up — it was less than 5 minutes and I could already put test payments through my app! They take a huge chunk off of small transactions (if you're only charging $3, you only get $2.61), so they kind of make you raise prices on small fees. However, I love not having to worry about security or managing anything, just getting paid!

  • Great CDN

I love CloudFront. All my assets are hosted by them, and they cut page load time in half, and my average bill is around $0.15/month. They're good, fast, and cheap — pick three!

  • Awesome chat

I love having Olark on my website. I can chat with users easily, and then they feel like I care about them. Plus the Safari and Chrome notifications make it easy to always respond quickly but not spend all day staring at Olark. They're great!

  • Really nice prototyping app

I really like InVision. They're great for dumping a bunch of sketches on and showing someone else your ideas super easily. I highly recommend them for prototyping apps (plus they work on mobile!).

I haven't used Marvel a ton, but I've been really pleased with them every time I have. The Dropbox integration is killer, and their animations are easy to use and look great. Marvel is best for something super quick. Plus they're free!

  • Great for users and developers

I use Dropbox both as a user and as a developer. Their products are awesome, fast, and super-great all around. The same go for their APIs — the Datastore API gives you real-time sync, for free, in a few minutes. I haven't found anyone to beat them on either side so far.
