Senior Product Designer


Code Climate helps engineering teams deliver better code, faster with our modern solutions for software quality management. Our product provides clear, timely, and actionable insights into the health of their source code and development processes. From the outset, product and user experience design have been critical to our success and a key differentiator. With a vast and growing customer list, and following our recent Series A led by Union Square Ventures, we are looking for a senior product designer who will take ownership of our strong design foundation and evolve it as we grow.

As our first designer, you’ll own the entire user experience, including anything from the interactions and flows that comprise our core web application to creative event marketing. You’ll work closely with our founders and our software development team during all stages of development to build features and ship new experiences into the hands of our users.

Interest in software engineering will be essential to your success. In this role, you’ll continually be exposed to the inner workings of software development teams, their processes, and their projects. You’ll develop a keen sense for how modern engineering teams work, and the nitty-gritty details of what drives code quality and effective delivery.

This role is ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who is looking to accelerate their career by having a major impact on a rapidly growing business.

Examples of the problems you’ll be solving:

Improving user experiences within our web application which tens of thousands of software developers depend on during for delivering their work daily Crafting workflows and interactions around complex concepts and data while ensuring they are distilled into the simplest possible visuals and interactions Evolving our brand and style guidelines as the product changes and grows Breaking new ground with innovative features to help developers get more insight and actionable feedback which was not possible previously Researching new product initiatives with customer interviews, consistently producing new insights into our product and direction Experimenting and testing different options to help learn how best to optimize critical user flows

Who we’re looking for:

Your portfolio shows your experience driving the entire lifecycle of a feature from user research and analytics, to user flows, wireframes and high fidelity mock ups You demonstrate a deep understanding of product design, typography, grid-based layout, data visualization and user experience design for B2B applications for over 5 years You work best in a collaborative environment, and elevate the work of those around you You can translate your designs into HTML and CSS You have a customer-focused design mentality. Even though you have incredible chops, you are constantly looking to hone your design instinct through user feedback. Whether through hands-on user research, or by designing options for an A/B test. You prefer working on agile product teams, focusing on shipping work in small increments, and ensuring that valuable work is shipped to customers as soon as possible
