Who?

Twilio is looking for a Front-End architect to join the Customer Experience group. Customer Experience helps customers get immediate insights and engagement with the Support team so that they can grow and scale their business. You will drive the technical effort to design, develop, deploy and operate Twilio's Customer Experience product offerings. At the same time, you will be helping more junior developers by mentoring them, providing guidance, and positively influencing their careers.  

The front-end architect needs to understand the use cases of different product teams at Twilio to be able to provide efficient means for great design to pervade the solution with a focus on the business priorities. As part of this role you have a great eye for detail, are able to create the vision and technical roadmap for providing a best of breed design system to be adopted by all Twilio customer facing products. Not being married to a particular framework or technology (though we use React for a major portion of the front-end development at Twilio) , a fan of the DRY principle and are able to reuse the same architecture for web, mobile web and apps installed on a mobile device

We are looking for an experienced architect who is excited about solving complex, business-critical design and technical problems. You should love to write code with a test-driven approach and take great pride in the quality, resilience and performance of your code. You will ensure continuous operation at scale to meet high availability goals, focusing on solving resiliency, latency, and quality challenges in our virtualized cloud environment. Some of the primary technology choices in our services and products include Java, Node, React, MySql, Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, Bash Shell Scripting, Datadog and Rollbar. You should have the ability and a desire to learn new technologies and a fail fast approach to making technology choices.

An ideal candidate for this position needs to be intellectually honest. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to architect and articulate technical proposals and solutions. You are empathetic to the individuals you work with day to day and able to prioritize customer escalations.

One of the primary missions of this role is to standardize and establish a “Gold” standard of developing UI at Twilio.
