You are someone who has long history of successfully delivering solutions to complex problems. You are consistently producing high quality work in fast paced environment. You are passionate about high availability and scalability. You have been a go to person for technology questions on your team and have been leading/mentoring teammates. You have worked extensively with large data volumes and technologies like Kafka, Spark, Flink/Storm.
You are skilled at building distributed systems on top of the JVM, ideally you have a background working in the cloud - or you are interested in learning about it. You enjoy the challenge of building highly reliable systems out of unreliable parts. You know that running a product at scale without any outages (planned or unplanned) takes ongoing investment, focus and polish.
You communicate well in person, on paper and in code. You love to make an impact and thrive in small, collaborative, energetic teams.
As a Senior Backend Engineer you will be part of a cross functional team that designs, builds and operates Twilio Wireless - the first fully programmable platform for IoT.
Twilio Wireless delivers an instantly deployable, cloud-based platform that allows developers to quickly develop and deploy internet-enabled devices.
In this role you will also be working with high scale, high availability data pipelines dealing with billing events. You will be leading/mentoring next generation of leaders in the team. You will be spending some of your time infusing your technical expertise and know how in your team through code reviews and white boarding sessions. You will be working with our Tech Lead to setup best practices for the area of ownership. You will be working with Scala/Python/Spark//MySql/Dynamo/AWS.
