Twilio's IoT business unit is growing rapidly and seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help grow our Wireless SDK that is part of the NB-IOT product. Twilio’s NB-IOT product was launched at Signal 2018 in partnership with T-Mobile as the first NB-IOT Connectivity solution in North America.

Organizationally, the role sits within a small team dedicated to evolving and hardening our NB-IOT product . From a subject matter perspective, you'll work on making the Twilio Wireless SDK the best solution in the industry for developing connected hardware using the latest protocols for IOT connectivity. From a roadmap perspective, you'll collaborate with the IoT product team.



The Senior Software Engineer for the IoT (Wireless) team will be responsible for the delivery of software from concept to production deployments and monitoring. You will work on the implementation efforts alongside a team of seasoned and junior engineers. Once deployed, you will be responsible for helping customer support assist and troubleshoot problems as they pop up in the field.

The person for this job definitely is:

  • Proficient in C/C++ programming language
  • Familiar with modern embedded development tool chains (iar, gnu, arm, etc)
  • Familiar with modern 16/32-bit RISC CPU architecture (ARM Cortex M, Cortex A, etc) and at least one assembly language
  • Deep understanding of real-time system basics and solid experience with RTOS in addition to bare metal systems
  • Strong in diagnosing and root-causing problems with various SW and HW tools
  • Able to work well and communicate effectively with other team members and management

The person for this job ideally is:

  • Experienced with IoT wireless (LTE, NB-IoT, WiFi, Bluetooth, SIGFOX, LoRa, ZigBee, etc) protocols, modules & chipsets
  • Experienced with embedded Linux (and Linux Kernel) development
  • Experienced with smaller 8-bit micros (PIC, MSP430, ATMega, etc) and associated bare metal systems
