Software Engineer, Engagement TeamApply
Because you belong at Twilio
The Who, What, Where and Why
We are looking for an experienced App Engineer. This person should be a strong communicator who can work closely with other teams’ product managers and engineers to help design the best products for our customers and then implement them. This person should also be very comfortable learning new technologies and adding them to their skillset. They should be interested in design in addition to engineering implementation.
As a member of the Engagement Apps team, you will help implement Twilio technologies internally - including front-end work in React and back-end work in a language that is best for our needs. We typically use everything from NodeJS to Python to Java. The team values thorough code reviews with constructive feedback and collaboration. To provide a reliable service, we write high-quality, effective system, performance, integration, unit, and functionality tests. You should be comfortable debugging high-visibility production systems, breaking down requirements, estimating tasks, and maintaining existing services and tools. Job responsibilities also include being on-call and participating in our blameless post-mortems, incident resolution, SLA definition, and operational reviews.
Twilio seeks to fuel the future of communication. Our Engagement Apps team makes sure we stay close to our values of “wearing the customer’s shoes.” By working on this team, you will be responsible for giving our architects, product managers and engineering managers their first “external” feedback for new customer facing products.
Twilio is truly unique; we are a company committed to your growth, learning, development and your entire employee experience. We only win when our employees succeed and we're dedicated to helping you develop your strengths. We invest in internal hack-a-thons, allowing our engineers to dedicate two weeks every year to tackle any challenge they see fit. We have a cultural foundation built on diversity, inclusion, and innovation and we want you and your ideas to thrive at Twilio. Come join us.
This position is located in our beautiful office at 375 Beale Street in San Francisco. You should expect the normal perks: catered meals, snacks, game room, ergonomic desks, etc. You will also get to experience a company that believes in small teams for maximum impact; that strives to balance work and home life (we know this is a marathon not a sprint!); that builds an inclusive culture where we want all of our people to be comfortable and thrive. We seek out people who live by our values, who are challenged by problems, empower others to thrive, people who can draw the owl and not be beholden to one playbook.
