Amazon S3 vs Wistia: What are the differences?

**Introduction**
Key differences between Amazon S3 and Wistia are outlined below:

1. **Storage Type**: Amazon S3 is primarily for storing and retrieving any amount of data at any time, while Wistia is focused on video hosting and management, specifically for businesses looking to showcase video content.

2. **Pricing Structure**: Amazon S3 offers a pay-as-you-go pricing model based on the amount of data stored, data transferred, and requests made, whereas Wistia's pricing is based on the number of videos hosted and the features needed, with different tiers for different business needs.

3. **Content Delivery**: Amazon S3 does not offer built-in content delivery networks (CDN), but it can be integrated with CDN services for faster content delivery globally. Conversely, Wistia includes a CDN with its service, ensuring faster loading times for video content across the world.

4. **Customization Options**: Wistia provides extensive customization options for video players, analytics, and lead generation features, catering to businesses looking to enhance their video marketing strategies, while Amazon S3 is more geared towards general data storage and retrieval without specific customization options for multimedia content.

5. **Security Features**: Amazon S3 offers robust security features including encryption, access control, and compliance certifications to ensure data protection, whereas Wistia focuses more on video-specific security measures such as password protection, domain restrictions, and viewer tracking for video content.

6. **API and Integrations**: Amazon S3 has a well-documented API and offers seamless integrations with various services and platforms, making it versatile for developers and businesses needing integrations, while Wistia also provides an API but its integrations are mainly focused on video marketing tools and platforms to enhance video content strategies.

In Summary, Amazon S3 and Wistia differ in storage type, pricing structure, content delivery, customization options, security features, and API integrations, catering to different business needs and objectives.

Decisions about Amazon S3 and Wistia
Gabriel Pa

We offer our customer HIPAA compliant storage. After analyzing the market, we decided to go with Google Storage. The Nodejs API is ok, still not ES6 and can be very confusing to use. For each new customer, we created a different bucket so they can have individual data and not have to worry about data loss. After 1000+ customers we started seeing many problems with the creation of new buckets, with saving or retrieving a new file. Many false positive: the Promise returned ok, but in reality, it failed.

That's why we switched to S3 that just works.
