What is Codetree?

Codetree is a project management app deeply integrated with GitHub issues -- every issue in Codetree corresponds directly to an issue on GitHub. We offer both a compact list view and kanban taskboards.

What is TaskTub?

Simple Kanban Tool for GitHub issues to help teams manage the development process. By creating a simple UX we allow developers and non-developers to collaborate. Building on top of GitHub keeps developers happy (they don't need to switch tool) and leverages a large network of existing users. We charge users a monthly fee to manage private repositories - similar to GitHub.

What is waffle.io?

Track priority and rank for your GitHub issues across multiple repositories. Automatically see issues moved across a board for you, when you open pull requests or create branches.

Review ofCodetreeCodetree

our company uses github and soon ran into limitations. gh issues are difficult use to express task relations and especially dependency. from the po/pm side, they are absolutely painful to track epic and stories and their relation to issue task across releases.

codetree paves over the limits of github for us so that we can continue to use github in the same way we always do but have the relationship and visualization functions that help us manage releases.

codetree was also quite light in the sense that it is easy to use just the management and strategic functions needed at any given time.

we did more planning stuff in codetree while using github in development in most of the day to day. we continue to use github for issue/task creation but we seem to be using codetree more and more and increasingly not just around sprint refinement and planning but also at reviews, working with stack ranks, and in the product backlog. codetree seems to be designed to make this sort of incorporation quite smooth.

we had a couple of minor issues with the platform initially which were ironed out immediately (page load times were noticeable sometimes here in germany). we even had a couple of suggestions turn into features within hours of telling them to codetree -- which surprised us of course. but support has been top notch and the codetree team clearly want to grow the platform where it makes sense.

we tried a couple of popular options including waffle, trello, aha, bitbucket, and jira -- all good options in their own ways. some we used for a long time in oder to get a good comparison. and we still use jira today though no longer for development planning.

so we like codetree and recommend it.

Review ofCodetreeCodetree

Codetree is a great tool that helps us in managing our projects and be more agile. Here are some things that make this tool great:

  • Great board - the kanban/scrum board looks pleasant and is very easy to use. I really like the option to add an item to an iteration by just drag-dropping the item from the Backlog column to the Not Done column
  • Easy export - extracting the data for the sprint is just a click away. This helps us a lot when we want to analyse the data.
  • Priority sorting - for me a tool without this feature is useless. Having an sorted and organized backlog is very important for planning and transparency.
  • Custom views - saves a lot of time and effort to organized the work into different views and boards. We working with at least 6 shared views and I have created at least 10 personal.

... and many more - folks at Codetree are constantly improving their product. When I report an issue I now that response from them will follow fast. They take feedback very seriously and I have often observed a feature implemented within a month of being reported. Great stuff!

We've used almost every project management tool out there, and have never been 100% happy with anything. Codetree is the closest we've found to an ideal project management tool for our engineering at our current team size.

Codetree is the closest match we've found for offering power through a lightweight interface, while allowing us to use GitHub Issues as the backbone of our engineering.

Review ofCodetreeCodetree

I've been looking all over the place for a kanban/scrum (I know they're different) tool for gh issues, with solid multi-repo support that allows me and my (small) team to organise the day/week/scrum. I think I've tried all of the major competitors, but this is the only one that works for me.

Also: fantastic support, very responsive team.
