There are (arguably) much better tools than React, you are right. There's Svelte (SvelteKit) , Solid.js, and more. They all suffer from morer or less the same issue, though (when it comes to SEO, at least).

The problem is not with React , it's with SPAs. It used to be (and still is sometimes) that search engines' bots wouldn't run JavaScript , meaning they wouldn't see anything on the page. Nowadays, it is said they do load it, but that takes longer than loading the HTML, which is what they are mostly interested in.

So what do you do? You use a static site generator, a prerenderer, a static site, or a server-side rendered site. Next.js does both SSG & SSR, which is why your Next.js sites should rank higher than the plain React sites (assuming the same content & structure).

As for hosting the front-end, the choice would be Vercel. Super straight-forward non-nonsense deployment. As for Java, I'd package it in a Docker container, and deploy it this way.

There are multiple options for deploying Docker containers: Azure, GCP, and AWS will have them, and there's very little to no difference between them. From some tests I have seen, Azure and AWS are faster than GCP.

tl;dr Pick a tool and stick with it. It will be worth it.

Either of these tools is great.

Here's the thing: both of them have a bright future ahead.

Flutter will be most likely the default way to create apps for Google's Fuchsia OS, and even if not, it is a superb tool to make great-looking mobile applications, fast. When it comes to mobile development, however, you would have to, most likely, start learning Kotlin/Swift and Android/iOS development sometime in the future, which is a bummer. Dart also isn't the most useful programming language ever, though I quite enjoy it: it's as if Java and JavaScript had a baby.

React is something a bit different. It's primarily for creating web apps. Yes, React Native exists, but it's inferior to Flutter, imo. Creating web apps is a great way to target multiple platforms at once, as well. Moreover, JavaScript is the language that is spreading into every domain of software development, so one would argue that you are better off learning JavaScript. On the other hand, React is a bit of a black box: there are some gotchas that you need to discover.

I love Svelte. Seriously. I fell in love with it because of its simplicity, and because of its approach. With Svelte, I can ship much less code than usual. The ultimate feature, in all cases, is speed.

The framework is super easy to use as well. Working with it is pure joy, yet I had to choose Next.js. Why?

You see, there is one feature in Vercel's Framework that won me over. It's the ability to render pages on the server side on each request with the ability to call third-party code. It made my life so much easier.

Whenever Svelte gets this feature, I am migrating over to it. That's not the case yet, unfortunately, so I wait.

I chose to replace React with Preact because the latter is much lighter and faster, than Facebook's library.

Replacing was simple as well - all I had to do is to add a few lines of text to my project, and voila!

The change was not a problem for me at all, and I significantly reduced my blog's bundle size.
