Make lets me easily put together a fairly conventional interface for my projects, so whatever test tool I'm using for a project - pytest or something else - I can just "make test" and have it all happen for me

I use Bootstrap because it makes my front-end web stuff look significantly better than if I didn't!

I use Gunicorn because does one thing - it’s a WSGI HTTP server - and it does it well. Deploy it quickly and easily, and let the rest of your stack do what the rest of your stack does well, wherever that may be.

uWSGI “aims at developing a full stack for building hosting services” - if that’s a thing you need then ok, but I like the principle of doing one thing well, and I deploy to platforms like Heroku and AWS Elastic Beanstalk where the rest of the “hosting service” is provided and managed for me.

I use Amazon ElastiCache because I use Redis and Memcached and I usually find it way more cost-effective to pay Amazon to run and operate them than for me to do so myself

I like Docker Compose as a super convenient way to spin up a local service stack for development and testing.

A few lines of YAML and I can easily have my app, a database, a queue, etc. running in a convenient and isolated fashion thanks to Docker , with config I can keep in Git

I could spin up an Amazon EC2 instance and install PostgreSQL myself, review latest configuration best practices, sort Amazon EBS storage for data, set up a snapshot process etc.

Alternatively I could use Amazon RDS, Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL or Heroku Postgres and have most of that work handled for me, by a team of world experts...

AWS Elastic Beanstalk is Amazon's excellent PaaS offering that saves me from a bunch of time and effort building and maintaining my own platform.

Rather than me having to DIY configuration for Amazon EC2 , Amazon CloudWatch , Amazon VPC , AWS Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) and more, AWS Elastic Beanstalk handles that for me, so I can focus on my app/service.

I use Django (and Python!) because it takes care of much of the hassle of Web development, so I can focus on writing my app without needing to reinvent the wheel
