Charted vs ggplot2: What are the differences?
What is Charted? A charting tool that produces automatic, shareable charts from any data file. Charted is a tool for automatically visualizing data, created by the Product Science team at Medium. Provide the link to a data file and Charted returns a beautiful, interactive, and shareable chart of the data.
What is ggplot2? A data visualization package for the statistical programming language R. It is a general scheme for data visualization which breaks up graphs into semantic components such as scales and layers.
Charted and ggplot2 can be categorized as "Charting Libraries" tools.
Some of the features offered by Charted are:
- Rendering well on all screen sizes, including monitors
- Re-fetching the data and updating the chart every 30 minutes
- Moving data series into separate charts
On the other hand, ggplot2 provides the following key features:
- Axis titles
- Tickmarks
- Margins and points in ggplot2 look cooler
Charted and ggplot2 are both open source tools. It seems that ggplot2 with 4.04K GitHub stars and 1.51K forks on GitHub has more adoption than Charted with 2.74K GitHub stars and 198 GitHub forks.
