Amazon Pinpoint vs Pusher Mobile Push Notifications API: What are the differences?

Introduction:

1. Integration Ease: Amazon Pinpoint offers seamless integration with other Amazon Web Services, making it easier for users already utilizing AWS products to incorporate mobile push notifications into their applications. On the other hand, Pusher Mobile Push Notifications API provides straightforward integration with multiple platforms and libraries, allowing developers to efficiently integrate push notifications across various environments.

2. Customization Options: With Amazon Pinpoint, users have access to advanced customization features such as message templates, segmentation, and personalized targeting, enabling them to create tailored push notifications based on user behavior and preferences. Pusher Mobile Push Notifications API also allows for customization but may have more limitations compared to Amazon Pinpoint in terms of personalization and targeted messaging capabilities.

3. Scalability: Amazon Pinpoint ensures scalability by effortlessly handling large volumes of push notifications, making it suitable for applications with high user engagement and extensive reach. While Pusher Mobile Push Notifications API can also scale effectively, it may have restrictions in terms of handling large volumes of notifications compared to Amazon Pinpoint's robust scalability capabilities.

4. Analytics and Insights: Amazon Pinpoint provides comprehensive analytics and insights on user engagement metrics, delivery rates, and campaign performance, empowering businesses to track and optimize their push notification strategies effectively. Conversely, Pusher Mobile Push Notifications API offers basic analytics features, which may not be as extensive or detailed as the analytics provided by Amazon Pinpoint.

5. Pricing Model: Amazon Pinpoint follows a pay-as-you-go pricing model, allowing users to pay only for the services they use without any upfront costs or long-term commitments. On the contrary, Pusher Mobile Push Notifications API may have different pricing structures with potential upfront costs or subscription fees, which could impact the overall cost-effectiveness for certain users based on their usage requirements.

6. Geographic Reach: Amazon Pinpoint has a global infrastructure that ensures reliable delivery of push notifications to users worldwide, leveraging Amazon's vast network of servers and data centers. Pusher Mobile Push Notifications API, while also supporting global reach, may not have the same level of geographic coverage or performance optimization as Amazon Pinpoint, potentially impacting the delivery speed and reliability of notifications in certain regions.

In Summary, Amazon Pinpoint offers seamless integration, advanced customization, scalability, comprehensive analytics, flexible pricing, and global reach compared to Pusher Mobile Push Notifications API.

Instead of Amazon SNS, which is currently being used to send outbound push notification and including SMS, we want to build the 2 Way SMS using Amazon Pinpoint. Just want to know about Pinpoint and any outstanding issues if we drop SNS since it does not support 2 Way and use Pinpoint for both incoming and outgoing flow.
