Actor vs Zoho Cliq: What are the differences?

Introduction:

Zoho Cliq and Actor are both communication platforms that enable teams to collaborate effectively. However, they have distinct features that set them apart in terms of functionality and usability.

  1. Integration Capabilities: Actor provides seamless integration with popular tools such as Slack, Trello, and Google Drive, making it easier for teams to collaborate across different platforms. On the other hand, Zoho Cliq offers integrations with Zoho CRM, Zoho Books, and other Zoho applications, allowing for a more cohesive workflow within the Zoho ecosystem.

  2. Chatbots: Zoho Cliq offers a robust chatbot feature that allows users to automate tasks and streamline processes through conversational interfaces. Actor, on the other hand, does not have native chatbot capabilities, which may limit the automation options available to users.

  3. File Sharing: In Actor, users can share files directly in chat conversations, with the ability to preview and download files without leaving the platform. Zoho Cliq, on the other hand, offers advanced file sharing features with version control, comments, and file storage capabilities within the platform.

  4. Video Conferencing: Zoho Cliq provides built-in video conferencing features, allowing teams to have face-to-face meetings without switching to another platform. Actor, on the other hand, relies on third-party integrations for video conferencing, which may require additional setup and accounts.

  5. Customization Options: Zoho Cliq offers extensive customization options, such as creating custom channels, designing chatbots, and setting up automated workflows, tailored to the team's specific needs. Actor has limited customization features compared to Zoho Cliq, which may restrict the flexibility of the platform for certain user requirements.

  6. Security Features: Zoho Cliq prioritizes security with features such as end-to-end encryption, remote device wipe, and user authentication protocols to ensure data protection and privacy. Actor also emphasizes security but may lack some of the advanced security features offered by Zoho Cliq, making it a crucial differentiator for users with high-security requirements.

In Summary, Zoho Cliq and Actor differ in integration capabilities, chatbot functionalities, file sharing options, video conferencing features, customization options, and security measures.

Advice on Actor, Zoho Cliq

Decided

We chose RocketChat over other communications suites like Cliq or Slack mainly because we can self-host it on our own infrastructure. Since we have quite some projects going on which demand that we stay in touch with a lot of different stakeholders, pricing was an issue, too. With RocketChat, we have a huge set of features basically for free, RC offers apps for all major devices and systems and overall, we're very happy with it. The only downside is the limited amount of apps and integrations, but we can make due with what we have available.
