Dolt vs HBase: What are the differences?

Developers describe Dolt as "SQL database with Git-like functionality, implements push and pull". It is a relational database, i.e. it has tables, and you can execute SQL queries against those tables. It also has version control primitives that operate at the level of table cell. Thus it is a database that supports fine grained value-wise version control, where all changes to data and schema are stored in commit log. On the other hand, HBase is detailed as "The Hadoop database, a distributed, scalable, big data store". Apache HBase is an open-source, distributed, versioned, column-oriented store modeled after Google' Bigtable: A Distributed Storage System for Structured Data by Chang et al. Just as Bigtable leverages the distributed data storage provided by the Google File System, HBase provides Bigtable-like capabilities on top of Apache Hadoop.

Apache HBase is an open-source, distributed, versioned, column-oriented store modeled after Google' Bigtable: A Distributed Storage System for Structured Data by Chang et al. Just as Bigtable leverages the distributed data storage provided by the Google File System, HBase provides Bigtable-like capabilities on top of Apache Hadoop.	Dolt is a SQL database with Git-like version control features. Instead of versioning files, Dolt versions tables and provides a SQL query interface over those tables. The underlying storage is a commit graph, and it is exposed in SQL.
