Gumby vs Materialize: What are the differences?

Gumby: A Flexible, Responsive CSS Framework - Powered by Sass. Create rapid and logical page layout and app prototypes with a flexible and responsive grid system and UI kit; Materialize: A modern responsive front-end framework based on Material Design. A CSS Framework based on material design.

Gumby and Materialize can be categorized as "Front-End Frameworks" tools.

Some of the features offered by Gumby are:

  • Syntactically Awesome - Gumby 2 is built with the power of Sass. Sass is a powerful CSS preprocessor which allows us to develop Gumby itself with much more speed — and gives you new tools to quickly customize and build on top of the Gumby Framework.
  • Brilliantly Flexible - Gumby 2 is an amazing responsive CSS Framework. Websites built today must be mobile friendly in order to survive. Why have two different sites for mobile and desktop when you can have your main site be one size fits all? Gumby Framework is also incredibly customizable
  • it’s as easy as download, tweak, deploy!

On the other hand, Materialize provides the following key features:

  • Speeds up development
  • User Experience Focused
  • Easy to work with

        Reviews of Gumby and Materialize
        Review ofMaterializeMaterialize

I've been using materialize and I'm really happy with it, in some months I'm sure it will become one of the best front-end frameworks around the internet, because it's easy and fast to use and to get started with it.

It also got a nice community of developers that help developing it and finding bugs, as well a translation team, looking to get materialize into the major countries.

My final review is that is one of the best front-end frameworks I've ever found and get used really fast and it's one of the most comfortable frameworks to use as well.

        Review ofMaterializeMaterialize

As I've been applying Materialize, I've discovered some limitations.

For example, the tabs require ids for the content divs. This makes is difficult to create content dynamically.

        The documentation is not accurate.

To use materializecss, you will need to review the source code often.

The Glitter page: https://gitter.im/Dogfalo/materialize provided excellent support though. Kudos!
