Introduction:
1. Data Integration: Looker focuses on integrating data directly from databases, while QlikView extracts data into its proprietary in-memory engine for analysis.
2. Visualization Capabilities: Looker provides advanced visualization options, including embedding custom visualizations, whereas QlikView offers extensive out-of-the-box visualizations with less customization flexibility.
3. User Interface: Looker's interface is more user-friendly and intuitive for non-technical users, while QlikView's interface may require more technical expertise for customization and usage.
4. Deployment Options: Looker is primarily cloud-based, allowing for easier scalability and lower maintenance costs, while QlikView can be deployed both on-premises and in the cloud, providing more flexibility but potentially higher deployment costs.
5. Support for Real-time Analytics: Looker excels in providing real-time analytics capabilities with its modern architecture, while QlikView may face challenges in delivering real-time insights due to its underlying data extraction methods.
6. Collaboration Features: Looker offers robust collaboration features such as data sharing and commenting within the platform, whereas QlikView may lack such collaborative functionalities, making teamwork more challenging.
In Summary, Looker and QlikView differ in data integration methods, visualization capabilities, user interface, deployment options, support for real-time analytics, and collaboration features.
Very easy-to-use UI. Good way to make data available inside the company for analysis.
Has some built-in visualizations and can be easily integrated with other JS visualization libraries such as D3.
Can be embedded into product to provide reporting functions.
Support team are helpful.
The only complain I have is lack of API support. Hard to track changes as codes and automate report deployment.
Power BI is really easy to start with. If you have just several Excel sheets or CSV files, or you build your first automated pipeline, it is actually quite intuitive to build your first reports.
And as we have kept growing, all the additional features and tools were just there within the Azure platform and/or Office 365.
Since we started building Mews, we have already passed several milestones in becoming start up, later also a scale up company and now getting ready to grow even further, and during all these phases Power BI was just the right tool for us.
