As a small startup, maintaining all of our products and services would be difficult. During the growth phase, we preferred to focus on business logic instead of maintenance, thus, we started to work with Amazon Kinesis. Configurations like sharding and auto scaling can be changed easily on ec2 console. Also, it stores your data for up to 24 hours, lovely!

From cross platform development point of view: Using kotlin multiplatform is more convenient than java for implementing cross platform code, since it can be converted to be used in iOS (swift) projects, and it can be easily learned if you already know swift. It still an experimental feature but it helped so far to unify a lot of the common code between our iOS and Android projects. And it is more future proof than java regarding support and maintain multiplatform converting.

Wonderful free open source tool for creating flowcharts, software system designs, and UML diagrams. It is browser-based so diagrams can be viewed and edited anywhere.

Using Firebase Remote Config enables us to make changes in app configurations without republishing. Crashlytics used to get realtime crash reporting (integrated with slack to get crash alerts)

A very beneficial monitoring tool which enables application performance monitoring as well as custom monitoring options. We use this tool to log certain code-level parameters and variables and run custom queries on them using the NRQL languages.

Old ways of java was limiting our development. New and modern structures of kotlin widens our horizon on new ways of developing our applications and once you get used to it reduces development time needed. Also since Kotlin works on JVM it was not a hard migration.

We started to develop with vue.js at the beginning for the fast development and maintenance. The community was very proactive and there were thousands of libraries according to our needs. We highly suggest vue.js especially in small projects where you need speed.
