Getting Verified
Learn how to get your tool verified on StackShare and what the verified badge means.
The verified badge shows developers that your tool's StackShare page is officially managed by the tool's team. Here's how to get verified and why it matters.
What is Verification?
A verified badge appears next to tools that have been confirmed to be managed by their official teams. This helps developers:
- Trust the information - Know that descriptions and details are accurate
- Identify official responses - Distinguish official communications from community content
- Find legitimate tools - Avoid confusion with similarly-named tools
Benefits of Verification
Credibility
The verified badge signals to developers that your tool's information is authoritative and up-to-date.
Visibility
Verified tools may receive preferential placement in search results and category listings.
Trust
Developers are more likely to add verified tools to their stacks and trust the information on your page.
How to Get Verified
Verification happens automatically when you successfully claim your tool. Once you've proven ownership through one of our verification methods, your tool receives the verified badge.
Verification Methods
Email Verification
Verify using an email address at your tool's official domain. For example, if your tool's website is yourtool.com, you can verify with an email like team@yourtool.com or hello@yourtool.com.
- Click "Claim this tool" on your tool's page
- Enter your email address at the tool's domain
- Check your inbox for the verification link
- Click the link to complete verification
GitHub Repository Verification
If your tool is open source on GitHub, you can verify through your repository permissions. You must have admin or maintain permissions on the repository.
- Click "Claim this tool" on your tool's page
- Connect your GitHub account (if not already connected)
- We'll verify your permissions on the linked repository
- If you have sufficient access, verification is instant
Which method should I use?
Use email verification if your tool has its own domain. Use GitHub verification for open source tools hosted on GitHub without a custom domain.
