Draggable JS vs Zepto: What are the differences?

Draggable JS: A lightweight, responsive, modern drag-and-drop library (by Shopify). Draggable is a modular drag & drop library, allowing you to start small and build up with the features you need. At its most basic, Draggable gives you drag & drop functionality, fast DOM reordering, accessible markup, and a bundle of events to grab on to; Zepto: Minimalist JavaScript library for modern browsers, with a jQuery-compatible API. While 100% jQuery coverage is not a design goal, the APIs provided match their jQuery counterparts. The goal is to have a ~5-10k modular library that downloads and executes fast, with a familiar and versatile API, so you can concentrate on getting stuff done.

Draggable JS and Zepto can be primarily classified as "Javascript UI Libraries" tools.

Some of the features offered by Draggable JS are:

  • Works with native drag, mouse, touch and force touch events
  • Can extend dragging behaviour by hooking into draggables event life cycle
  • Can extend drag detection by adding sensors to draggable

On the other hand, Zepto provides the following key features:

  • zepto - Core module
  • contains most methods
  • event - Event handling via on() & off()

Draggable JS and Zepto are both open source tools. It seems that Zepto with 14.5K GitHub stars and 4.06K forks on GitHub has more adoption than Draggable JS with 13.2K GitHub stars and 694 GitHub forks.

          AngularJS
AngularJS lets you write client-side web applications as if you had a smarter browser. It lets you use good old HTML (or HAML, Jade and friends!) as your template language and lets you extend HTML’s syntax to express your application’s components clearly and succinctly. It automatically synchronizes data from your UI (view) with your JavaScript objects (model) through 2-way data binding.

I'll consider Zepto if jQuery is overkill for the amount of JavaScript work I'll be needing for the specific project.
