MAMP vs ShutIt: What are the differences?
Developers describe MAMP as "A free, local server environment *". It can be installed under macOS and Windows with just a few clicks. It provides them with all the tools they need to run WordPress on their desktop PC for testing or development purposes, for example. It doesn't matter if you prefer Apache or Nginx or if you want to work with PHP, Python, Perl or Ruby. On the other hand, *ShutIt** is detailed as "Automation tool that models a user's actions on a terminal". It can automate any process that can be run by a human on the command line with little effort. It was originally written to manage complex Docker builds, but is a now general-purpose automation tool that supports bash, Docker, Vagrant, ssh and arbitrary build contexts.
MAMP and ShutIt belong to "localhost Tools" category of the tech stack.
ShutIt is an open source tool with 2K GitHub stars and 122 GitHub forks. Here's a link to ShutIt's open source repository on GitHub.
