Joomla! vs Wagtail: What are the differences?

  1. Customization Flexibility: Joomla! offers more flexibility in terms of customization and design due to its extensive collection of templates and extensions. Wagtail, on the other hand, provides a more structured approach to website building, making it simpler for users who prefer a more streamlined process without as much customization options.

  2. User Interface: Joomla! has a more traditional interface with a steeper learning curve, making it better suited for users with experience in website development. Wagtail, on the other hand, has a user-friendly and intuitive interface that is easier for beginners to navigate and use.

  3. Scalability: Joomla! is known for its scalability and ability to handle larger websites with complex features and functionalities. Wagtail, while still capable of managing sizable websites, is more focused on simplicity and efficiency, making it ideal for smaller to medium-sized projects.

  4. Community Support: Joomla! has a large and active community of developers and users, providing a wealth of resources, forums, and assistance for troubleshooting and customization. Wagtail, while growing, has a smaller community, which may result in less extensive support and resources for users facing challenges.

  5. Content Management System: Joomla! is primarily a content management system (CMS), focusing on website content organization and management. Wagtail, on the other hand, emphasizes content publishing and workflow management, making it more suitable for websites with frequent content updates and multiple contributors.

  6. Platform Integration: Joomla! is known for its ability to integrate with various platforms, such as e-commerce systems, forums, and CRMs, expanding its functionality. Wagtail, while offering some integration options, may not have as wide a range of integrations available, limiting its compatibility with certain third-party tools and services.

In Summary, Joomla! offers more customization options and scalability, with a steeper learning curve and a larger community, while Wagtail focuses on simplicity, user-friendliness, and content publishing workflow management, but may have limitations in platform integration and community support.

Decided

10 Years ago I have started to check more about the online sphere and I have decided to make a website. There were a few CMS available at that time like WordPress or Joomla that you can use to have your website. At that point, I have decided to use WordPress as it was the easiest and I am glad I have made a good decision. Now WordPress is the most used CMS. Later I have created also a site about WordPress: https://www.wpdoze.com
