Adobe Experience Manager vs Ghost: What are the differences?

  1. Content Management Capabilities: Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is an enterprise-level content management system with robust capabilities for managing complex digital experiences across multiple channels. On the other hand, Ghost is a sleek and simple blogging platform that focuses primarily on content creation and publishing.

  2. Customization and Extensibility: AEM offers extensive customization options and can be tailored to the specific needs of a business, making it suitable for large organizations with diverse requirements. In contrast, Ghost is more lightweight and straightforward, offering limited customization options and a smaller set of features out of the box.

  3. Scalability and Performance: AEM is designed to handle large-scale projects and high volumes of traffic efficiently, making it ideal for enterprise-level applications. Ghost, on the other hand, is more lightweight and may not be as well-suited for handling massive amounts of content or spikes in traffic.

  4. Community and Support: AEM has a large and active community of developers and users, along with extensive documentation and support resources provided by Adobe. Ghost, while it has a growing community, may not have the same level of support and resources available as a more established platform like AEM.

  5. Cost and Licensing: AEM is a premium product with licensing costs that can vary depending on the specific features and services required by an organization. Ghost, on the other hand, offers a more affordable pricing structure, making it a viable option for smaller businesses or individuals looking to create a blog or website on a budget.

In Summary, Adobe Experience Manager is a comprehensive enterprise-level content management system with advanced customization and scalability features, while Ghost is a simpler blogging platform with a focus on content creation and publishing.

So many choices for CMSs these days. So then what do you choose if speed, security and customization are key? Headless for one. Consuming your own APIs for content is absolute key. It makes designing pages in the front-end a breeze. Leaving Ghost and Cockpit. If I then looked at the footprint and impact on server load, Cockpit definitely wins that battle.
