Google Cloud Platform vs Scaleway: What are the differences?

## Introduction
This Markdown code compares the key differences between Google Cloud Platform and Scaleway.

1. **Service Offerings**: Google Cloud Platform offers a wide range of cloud services, including computing, storage, databases, machine learning, and networking, catering to various business needs. In contrast, Scaleway focuses more on providing cloud instances, object storage, and Kubernetes services, catering to simpler cloud requirements.

2. **Global Presence**: Google Cloud Platform has a more extensive global presence with data centers scattered across multiple regions worldwide, ensuring better connectivity and redundancy for users. Scaleway, on the other hand, has a limited number of data centers primarily in Europe, which may impact performance for users outside that region.

3. **Pricing Structure**: Google Cloud Platform offers a pay-as-you-go pricing model, allowing users to pay only for the resources they consume. Scaleway offers competitive pricing with simple pricing plans, but the lack of detailed pay-as-you-go options could be a limitation for businesses with fluctuating workloads.

4. **Scalability**: Google Cloud Platform is known for its scalability, offering auto-scaling capabilities and seamless integration with other Google services for handling high loads efficiently. Scaleway also provides scalability options, but it may not be as robust as Google Cloud Platform, making it more suitable for smaller workloads or businesses.

5. **Support and Documentation**: Google Cloud Platform provides extensive documentation, tutorials, and customer support to assist users in setting up and managing their cloud resources effectively. In comparison, Scaleway may have fewer support resources available, making it potentially challenging for users to troubleshoot issues or seek help when needed.

In summary, Google Cloud Platform and Scaleway differ in their service offerings, global presence, pricing structure, scalability, and support resources, catering to different business needs and workloads.

We first selected Google Cloud Platform about five years ago, because HIPAA compliance was significantly cheaper and easier on Google compared to AWS. We have stayed with Google Cloud because it provides an excellent command line tool for managing resources, and every resource has a well-designed, well-documented API. SDKs for most of these APIs are available for many popular languages. I have never worked with a cloud platform that's so amenable to automation. Google is also ahead of its competitors in Kubernetes support.
