NetBeans IDE vs WebStorm: What are the differences?

<NetBeans IDE and WebStorm are two popular Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) primarily used for web development. Below are the key differences between NetBeans IDE and WebStorm.>

  1. Language Support and Plugins: NetBeans IDE offers extensive language support for various programming languages like Java, PHP, and C/C++, while WebStorm is specifically designed for web technologies like JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. WebStorm also provides a rich selection of plugins tailored for web development.

  2. Code Navigation and Refactoring: NetBeans IDE provides robust code navigation tools and refactoring capabilities for Java and other languages, whereas WebStorm excels in JavaScript-specific code navigation and refactoring support. WebStorm provides smart code completion and automatic refactoring features for JavaScript.

  3. Built-in Tools and Integration: NetBeans IDE includes a wide range of built-in tools like Maven, Ant, and version control systems integration, making it suitable for large-scale projects. On the other hand, WebStorm's strong suit lies in its seamless integration with popular web development tools like npm, bower, and Git.

  6. Debugging and Testing Capabilities: NetBeans IDE provides comprehensive debugging and testing tools for various programming languages, including Java and PHP, making it suitable for diverse development environments. WebStorm, being specifically designed for web technologies, offers excellent debugging and testing support tailored to JavaScript and web development workflows.

In Summary, when choosing between NetBeans IDE and WebStorm, consider the specific language and technology requirements of your projects, as well as your preference for performance and UI customization options.

Advice on NetBeans IDE, WebStorm

Needs adviceonVisual Studio CodeVisual Studio CodePhpStormPhpStormWebStormWebStorm

When I switched to Visual Studio Code 12 months ago from PhpStorm I was in love, it was great. However after using VS Code for a year, I see myself switching back and forth between WebStorm and VS Code. The VS Code plugins are great however I notice Prettier, auto importing of components and linking to the definitions often break, and I have to restart VS Code multiple times a week and sometimes a day.

We use Ruby here so I do like that Visual Studio Code highlights that for me out of the box, with WebStorm I'd need to probably also install RubyMine and have 2 IDE's going at the same time.

Should I stick with Visual Studio Code, or switch to something else? #help
