Avenue.io was originally developed to work with Spreedly Subscription Payments API via a lifetime original kick-starter arrangement, which was then purchased from Spreedly by Pin Payments, and subsequently discontinued in 2018. These subscription API's allowed us to get up and running quickly as a middle layer between our customers and our Paypal business account.
Since the integrated API's are now discontinued, we made the decision to fully transition to Stripe. Developer friendly and good support were primary concerns, their competitive transaction fees are a bonus.
