Netlify vs Squarespace: What are the differences?

  1. Pricing: Netlify offers a free tier with limited capabilities and pricing plans based on usage metrics such as bandwidth and build minutes. Squarespace, on the other hand, offers fixed pricing plans that include hosting, domain, and other features, without hidden costs.
  2. Customization: Netlify allows for full customization and flexibility in developing websites using custom code, while Squarespace provides templates and drag-and-drop interfaces for easier website building without advanced coding knowledge.
  3. Scalability: Netlify is more suitable for scalable projects due to its efficient build system and integrations with popular version control systems like GitHub, enabling continuous deployment. Squarespace is better suited for smaller businesses or individuals who do not require complex scalability options.
  4. E-commerce capabilities: Squarespace provides integrated e-commerce solutions for online stores with features like product management, inventory tracking, and payment processing. Netlify, on the other hand, relies on third-party integrations for e-commerce functionalities.
  5. SEO optimization: Squarespace includes built-in SEO tools and features to optimize websites for search engines, whereas Netlify requires the use of additional plugins or custom configurations for advanced SEO practices.
  6. Support: Squarespace offers 24/7 customer support through various channels such as live chat, email, and phone, ensuring prompt assistance and troubleshooting. Netlify provides support primarily through documentation, community forums, and limited email support.

In Summary, Netlify and Squarespace differ in pricing, customization options, scalability, e-commerce capabilities, SEO optimization, and support services provided to users.

DecidedonNetlifyNetlify

We use Netlify to host static websites.

The reasons for choosing Netlify over GitHub Pages are as follows:

  • Netfily can bind multiple domain names, while GitHub Pages can only bind one domain name
  • With Netfily, the original repository can be private, while GitHub Pages free tier requires the original repository to be public

In addition, in order to use CDN, we use Netlify DNS.
