DecidedonJavaScriptJavaScript

Javascript is a very obvious decision in a modern (frontend-)world. We try to utilize functional programming patterns as much as possible, while leveraging modern libraries wherever we can. On the backend we have partially node. On the frontend we have basically everything in javascript, from tooling, to jsx, react and styling. This creates a very homogenous frontend-stack, where every developer can understand and write everything.

The drawbacks of this decision are some learning curves when it comes to styling things in js.

Needs adviceonVisual Studio CodeVisual Studio Code

Visual Studio Code is an amazing code editor that is fast and easy to work with. I choose to work with it because of it's great integrations. Personally, I really enjoy having the terminal directly in the editor ready to go in the current project. The fantastic choices of themes and add-ons also improve usability greatly. But in the end why I choose this over something like Atom is the speed, which is unmatched.

Needs advice

We use Emotion because it enables the power of JavaScript inside css. While it compiles to stylesheets and is not injected directly into the head of the document, it is performant and cachable.

Needs advice

While we try to use real devices to check our product as often as possible, BrowserStack provides us with a choice of devices, which we can quickly check in the browser, without running around while keeping it local on our machines.
