Splunk Cloud vs StatusCake: What are the differences?

# Introduction

1. **Deployment Options**: Splunk Cloud is a fully managed service in the cloud, providing the benefits of scalability and flexibility without the need for infrastructure management. On the other hand, StatusCake is a web-based service that you can use directly from your browser, offering a more user-friendly experience without the need for software installation.

2. **Pricing Structure**: Splunk Cloud follows a pay-as-you-go pricing model, allowing you to pay only for the resources you consume. In contrast, StatusCake offers tiered pricing plans based on the features and level of monitoring required, providing a more predictable cost structure.

3. **Feature Set**: Splunk Cloud offers advanced analytics and data visualization capabilities, making it ideal for organizations that require in-depth insights from their data. StatusCake, on the other hand, focuses on website monitoring and performance testing, catering to businesses that prioritize uptime and user experience.

4. **Customization Options**: Splunk Cloud provides extensive customization options, allowing users to tailor the platform to their specific needs and requirements. In comparison, StatusCake offers fewer customization features but excels in simplicity and ease of use, making it suitable for users with less technical expertise.

5. **Alerting Capabilities**: Splunk Cloud offers robust alerting functionalities that enable users to receive notifications for specific events or anomalies in the data. StatusCake also provides alerting features but with a more straightforward setup, making it easier for users to configure and manage alerts.

6. **Integration Ecosystem**: Splunk Cloud boasts a wide range of integrations with third-party tools and platforms, enabling seamless data flow and interoperability. While StatusCake offers integrations with popular systems, its ecosystem may not be as extensive as that of Splunk Cloud, limiting the range of connected services.

In Summary, Splunk Cloud and StatusCake differ in terms of deployment options, pricing structure, feature set, customization options, alerting capabilities, and integration ecosystem.

Advice on Splunk Cloud, StatusCake

Needs adviceonAWS IAMAWS IAMAmazon EC2Amazon EC2Splunk CloudSplunk Cloud

We would like to detect unusual config changes that can potentially cause production outage.

Such as, SecurityGroup new allow/deny rule, AuthZ policy change, Secret key/certificate rotation, IP subnet add/drop. The problem is the source of all of these activities is different, i.e., AWS IAM, Amazon EC2, internal prod services, envoy sidecar, etc.

Which of the technology would be best suitable to detect only IMP events (not all activity) from various sources all workload running on AWS and also Splunk Cloud?
