We choose to use Helm as we can template and preview changes before applying them.

This also allows us to version and do release engineering on the charts and have them consumed on different environments.

We chose RDS as part of our stack to reduce the management overhead. We try to avoid running self-managed services where/when possible.

We chose Kubernetes over other Orchestrators because it's Open Source, it has a great community and it is cloud-provider agnostic.

We chose Terraform over CloudFormation as we want to be as provider-agnostic as possible, and because HCL is more readable and easier to validate. Also, this allows us to interpolate values from different providers to take automation to the next level.
